A Few Words About Movies: People watch movies to learn about life. Everyone has opinions, and the people who make movies relay those opinions both directly and indirectly. Even the lowest of all entertainment conveys opinions about life. A very common theme is that sincerity will be rewarded. This theme can be found in movies as bad as The Forbidden Dance to movies that are as good as The Hudsucker Proxy. We also learn about ourselves. If a movie does well, it is generally because the main character is the viewer. The viewer vicariously associates with the lead character (almost like a dream that has been scripted) and usually by the end of the movie (after weathering various trials) the viewer is reassured that he is a good or clever person. Life is a confusing proposition and we use stories to help us gain understanding and perspective. If you want to know a person, listen carefully to the stories they tell.
